Welcome to Halt. These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Halt Tech ("we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Halt Android application (the "App"), the gethalt.in website (the "Website"), and the associated physical Halt NFC Card (the "Hardware").

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY. BY CREATING AN ACCOUNT, PURCHASING A CARD, OR USING THE SERVICE, YOU EXPLICITLY AGREE TO THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, YOU MUST NOT USE THE SERVICE.

CRITICAL NOTICE REGARDING DEVICE LOCKOUTS

Halt is explicitly designed to be a strict, un-bypassable physical circuit breaker for screen addiction. By initiating a focus session, you acknowledge and agree that you may be entirely locked out of your device or specific applications until the session expires or you physically scan your registered Hardware. We are not liable for any missed communications, alarms, or inability to access emergency services during an active block.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have the permission of your parent or legal guardian to use the Service.

2. The Service and Hardware Requirements

  • 2.1. Core Functionality: Halt operates by aggressively blocking access to distracting applications on your Android device.
  • 2.2. Hardware Requirement: To utilize the full security and functionality of the App, you must purchase and register a physical Halt NFC Card. You acknowledge that your device must possess a functioning NFC reader to verify the Hardware.
  • 2.3. Emergency Exits: The App provides a limited number of "Emergency Exits" (currently 3 per month) to bypass an active block without the Hardware. Once these are depleted, you must have physical possession of your registered Hardware to unlock your device before a session expires.

3. Assumption of Risk and Liability Waivers

  • 3.1. Aggressive Blocking: You acknowledge that Halt utilizes strict system permissions (including the Accessibility Service and Device Administrator) to prevent circumvention. You voluntarily assume all risks associated with restricting access to your own device.
  • 3.2. Reboot Penalties: If you attempt to bypass an active focus session by rebooting your device, the App will enforce a 24-hour penalty lockout. You explicitly agree to this functionality and waive any claims against Halt Tech for loss of access to your device resulting from this penalty.
  • 3.3. OEM Interference: The Android ecosystem is highly fragmented. Certain device manufacturers (OEMs), including but not limited to Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, and Samsung, implement aggressive background process management that may kill the Halt service, resulting in premature session termination or missed blocks. We do not guarantee uninterrupted functionality across all hardware manufacturers and are not liable for failures caused by OEM-specific operating system modifications.
  • 3.4. Emergency Situations: You acknowledge that Halt may prevent you from accessing communication apps or the dialer during an active block. Halt Tech shall not be liable for any damages, injury, or loss of life resulting from your inability to access emergency services, medical applications, or urgent communications while the App is actively blocking your device.

4. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to engage in any of the following prohibited activities:

  • Reverse Engineering: Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, its tamper detection mechanisms, or the cryptographic protocols used by the Hardware.
  • Hardware Tampering: Attempting to clone, duplicate, or digitally spoof the Halt NFC Card or its rolling cryptographic signatures.
  • Exploitation: Exploiting bugs or unauthorized methods to bypass active focus sessions.

Violation of these provisions may result in immediate account termination without a refund.

5. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the App, the Website, the Hardware design, and the "Halt" brand, including all associated intellectual property rights, are the exclusive property of Halt Tech. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App in connection with the Hardware.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE AND HARDWARE ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. HALT TECH DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL HALT TECH, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE.

8. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.

9. Changes to the Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
